Jhanvi Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi starred in “Gunjan Saxena” is a story based on the real-life of the first female flight lieutenant. Gunjan Saxena served in the Kargil war. Co-produced under the banner of Dharma Production and Zee Studios, Gunjan Saxena got a digital release on Netflix on the 12th of August 2020.
The movie clearly justifies the depiction of gender-based discrimination by Indian women. The base-line of the story plot is how the Kargil girl stood unshakable against all the odds in a male dominating society. She proved that by keeping standards high, and aim even higher, you can achieve anything and everything. It is all about determination, dreams, confidence, and perseverance.
Gunjan Saxena hails from an army family. The sole credit of her “making it big” is given to his father, played by Pankaj Tripathi. Because of her upbringing, her mental health is unshakably strong and sturdy. She was never told that she cannot do certain things because she is a girl by her family until she steps in the real-world.
There is a scene in the movie that reflects the conversation between the father-daughter duo that focuses on Jhanvi Kappor saying “Air Force Needs Cadets Jinme Desh Bhakti Ho, Mujhe To Sirf Plane Udana Hai”. And, later regrets her words and confesses her guilt.
The movie is successfully able to show a loving and caring bond of a “super supportive” dad and “feisty daughter.” Igniting a fire against patriarchy and its promoters, Gunjan Sharma is a perfect watch.
After all, “Mhari Choriya Choro Se Kam Hai Ke?”
