Premiered on Hotstar Special, Criminal Justice is one of a kind. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Jackie Shroff, and Vikrant Messy as the leads, the ten episodes of the series drives within a string of incidents that arise during imprisonment, and hearings.
This rape-murder-mystery-thriller has an intriguing premise. The tempo of the narrative is fast-paced, and actions follow at a swift sequence to keep viewers to the edge-of-the-seat. It is sheer bliss to watch Pankaj Tripathi on screen. His characterization as an attorney-at-law, who is an opportunist, yet with a golden heart is very well balanced.
The theme focuses on a one-night stand that turns into a bummer for Aditya (Vikrant Massey) when he stirs up with blood on his hands. The show then cleaves into two comprehensive halves — one follows the criminal trial of the incident, with two lawyers in focus (Pankaj Tripathi as Madhav Mishra, and Mita Vashisht), both of whom strive to prove Aditya’s innocence. The other follows Aditya’s journey in jail and how he transforms from a quiet, thin asthmatic boy into a Bulked-up Badass.
Overall, criminal justice is appealing, with a much more influential impact with concise episodes at a consistent rate. The performances of the star cast completely overshadow any wee of disappointment. Every scene of the series is delightful to watch.
