Kadakh, Rajat Kapoor’s dark comedy released on Sony LIV, is a tale about a mixed group of flawed characters. It is a pretty engaging attempt at storytelling that agrees with the target audience. Ranvir Shorey is the soul and spirit of the film and lifts the show with his spot-on body language. Chandrachoor Rai, Mansi Multani, Shruti Seth, Nupur Asthana, Sagar Deshmukh, Tara Sharma Saluja, Cyrus Sahukar, Kalki Koechlin, Palomi Ghosh and Kapoor himself suit their parts perfectly.
Kadakh is engaging enough for viewers to watch it in one go. The opening is enough to lure the audience through the entire thing. The film opens on a bizarre note, and it is funny and touchy in equal parts. The movie flows at a comfortable pace and does not creep, which implies, the editing is up to the mark.
The film is about the events of a fateful night, where a dissonant lot fills every inch of their 2BHK apartment, drinking, cooking, gambling, and celebrating – even as a dead body lurks inside the decorative casket in a bedroom inside the house. The half-truth of one partner further muddles the matter, and then the Diwali party starts, with a dead body in the house.
By the end of the film, you’ll find friendships ruining, and only the primary relationship is soiled forever. The climax is the most enjoyable part of the film. The movie outlasts entertaining throughout, keeping a segment of the viewers hooked. The conversations between the protagonist and his mates are relatable and up the fun quotient big time.
