In such times where coronavirus is taking over everything, the entire world is left with no other option other than going into lockdown. Social Distancing is the new normal and in fact, the only way to keep yourself away from this deadly virus. All sorts of places that facilitate social gatherings have closed their doors now leading to a drastic downfall in every industry comprising of an economy. Malls, Theaters, Restaurants, Hotels, Gyms, Temples, etc are shut for a very long time now and are expected to stay the same for the coming months.
The entertainment industry has faced a lot of negatives in the past few months. Many artists had to end their life because of depression hitting them hard, of the fact of no new work opportunities. Many shootings have been called off, and the sets have been closed. This was the prime reason why producers of the entertainment industry have shifted to OTT platforms for releasing their drama pieces, instead of a usual theatre release.
There are many mega starred movies that have been released on the OTT platforms already. Gulabo Sitabo starring legendary Amitabh Bacchan & Multi-talented Ayushmann Khurrana was released on Amazon Prime on the 12th of June, 2020. Gulabo Sitabo was directed by Soojit Sircar and co-produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar. Everyone had higher expectations from the movie because of the talented star cast, but somehow it failed miserably.
Dil Bechara is the last movie of the late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput. The movie is a remake of a Hollywood masterpiece “The Fault in our Stars”. The story plot is a tragic love story of two cancer patients, Manny & Kizie. Sanjana Sanghi is debuting as a lead actress with Dil Bechara releasing on OTT platforms. The movie was directed by Mukesh Chhabra. Dil Bechara is all set to make its digital release on the streaming giant, Disney + Hotstar.
Apart from these, there are many other movies who are all set to have a digital release. Few of them are –
Laxmmi Bomb – Starring Akshay Kumar & Kiara Advani in lead roles, the producers of Laxmmi Bomb have partnered with Disney + Hotstar to make a digital release. However, the dates aren’t finalised yet. Laxmmi Bomb is a Hindi remake of a famous Tamil film called Muni 2: Kanchana. Akshay Kumar has seen in a female avatar dressed well in a saree making a buzz in the entertainment market. He never fails to bring something new on the screen to amuse his fans.
Gunjan Saxena – Jhanvi Kapoor is playing a lead role along with Angad Bedi and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles. The movie is a biographical representation of the first Indian Airforce woman who served as a flight lieutenant in Kargil war. She is also known as “Kargil Girl”. The film is jointly produced by Dharma Production and Zee Studios. The biopic will now get a digital release on Netflix.
Shakuntala Devi – Vidhya Balan starred Shakuntala Devi will now get a digital release on Amazon Prime Video soon. Along with Balan, Sanya Malhotra, Amit Sadh, and Jisshu Sengupta will also play important roles in the movie. Shakuntala Devi is a visual representation of a genius lady, popularly called as Human-Computer. Not just this, she is also a great mathematician, astrologer, and writer. The movie was initially set to hit the silver screens.
Ludo – the man taking an unconventional take on mainstream cinema, Anurag Basu is directing the movie. A multi-starred movie with Abhishek Bacchan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, and Pankaj Tripathi, is an ensemble drama, reflecting us a story about four couples. The movie was earlier lined up for an earlier theatrical release but due to covid, it will now get a digital release on Netflix.
Sadak 2 – Mahesh Bhatt directed, Sadak 2 is a sequel of a film called Sadak, which was released in the year 1991. Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, and Aditya Roy Kapoor are playing lead roles. It is a joint production of Fox Star Studios & Vishesh Films. The film is special in its own ways because it marks the return of Mahesh Bhatt as a Director after 20 years. The movie got released on July 10, 2020, on Disney + Hotstar.
Bhuj: The Pride of India – fits well into the category of drama and action. The movie is an entertainment visualisation of 300 Gujarati women who helped Indian Airforce in the war against Bangladesh and Pakistan. The star cast of the same includes Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, & Parineeti Chopra. Bhuj: The Pride of India is all set to make a release on Disney + Hotstar on August 14th, 2020.
The Big Bull – the story plot of The Big Bull revolves around the financial scams that took place between 1990-2000. It also reflects the stills from Harshad Mehta Scam. Abhishek Bacchan, Illeana D’cruz, and Samir Soni are playing the lead roles. The financial scam is co-produced by Ajay Devgn, Anand Pandit, and Kumar Mangat Pathak and was directed by Kookie Gulati. The Big Bull is coming later this year on 23rd October 2020.
Lootcase – Lootcase releases on 31st of July, 2020, on Disney + Hotstar. Kunal Khemmu playing Nandan Kumar finds a bag full of cash and falls in a dilemma of whether to pick it up or no. the journey really unfolds a hilarious chase. Rashika Duggal, Gajraj Rao, and Ranvir Shorey promise you a complete dosage of laughter.
Khuda Haafiz – a Panorama Studio production, Khuda Haafiz is a romance and action thriller. Vidyut Jamwwal is playing a prominent role, along with Aahana Kumra, Annu Kapoor, Shiv Panditt, & Shivaleeka Oberoi. The releasing date and platform are not yet finalised upon.
Virgin Bhanupriya – Urvashi Rautela & Big Boss Fame, Gautam Gulati starred Virgin Bhanupriya got a digital release on Zee5 on 16th July 2020. Archana Puran Singh, Brijendra Kala, and Niki Walia are also a part of this adult comedy. The movie is directed by Ajay Lohan. The story revolves around a girl, Bhanupriya (Urvashi Rautela) who decides to lose her virginity but fails miserably at every attempt she makes.
